President
Inez Arnett-Ferrer
Biography
Mrs. Arnett-Ferrer retired in 2010 from New York Presbyterian Medical Center of New York City. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York in 1990, and worked her way up from front line Supervisor to a “Six Sigma Black Belt Director” of Business Project Management. Following her retirement after a Forty Two-year career as an Administrator and living all her life in New York and New Jersey, Mrs. Arnett-Ferrer, decided it was time for a change of scenery (and weather) and moved to sunny Clarksville, Virginia, where she now lives a very contented life with her husband of 37 years, Allan P. Ferrer, who is also retired. Together they have three children and three grandchildren. She became a member of St John Baptist Church in Buffalo Junction, VA and in March of 2018, when her husband was ordained as a Deacon, she became a Deaconess. As an Outreach Program for the Church, she voluntarily taught Computer Literacy once a week to Seniors at the local Clarksville YMCA for several years until she retired from that. In addition to being a member of the Clarksville Book Club, and the LadyBuggs Hatters of Clarksville, she loves working in her flower garden and collecting antique perfume bottles. Her Husband built her a “She Shad” while she was recovering from a long illness. Mrs. Arnett-Ferrer is presently serving on the Board of Directors of Literacy InterActives, Inc. as the Community Liaison and Events Coordinator. She also serves as the Vice President on the Board of the Clarksville Food Pantry and has served since 2019. In addition, she is serving as the current President of the local Clarksville, VA AARP Occoneechee, Chapter 741 and she has remained a member since 2017. The Chapter has approximately 30 members. In 2021, she was appointed as a board member to the organization, L.I.F.E Financial Assistance Organization, Inc another 501 (c) (3) organization. She, and her husband, were awarded the 2019 Mecklenburg County NAACP Certificate of Appreciation Award for “Significant Service to the Community” for organizing, running, and maintaining the St John Baptist Church Community Summer Day Camp for 4 years. Then in 2021, Mrs. Arnett-Ferrer was also awarded by the Oxford-Henderson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc with their 2021 Community Service Award for her many activities to service her community. Finally in March of 2023, she was received her highest honor by being awarded the 7,499-award (one short of being #5,000) given out by the Daily Points of Light Organization, which was established by President George H. W. Bush to “recognize the power of individuals and groups to spark change and improve the world.” Mrs. Ferrer’s favorite quote is: “Shoot for the Moon, for even if you miss, you will still land among the Stars”.
Vice President
James Aulisio
Biography
Born and raised in “The Pizza Capital of the WORLD” (google it!). Modesty is not a strong trait in his hometown of Old Forge, PA. Luckily, Jim is always brought back to reality by his loving and supportive wife, Janice of 25 years, a New Jersey native who knows New York Style Pizza is the best, but let’s that small Pennsylvania town have their boast. Jim and Janice retired from Florida in 2012 and looked for a moderate climate with reasonable priced land for their 2 horses and a retirement home for them. They settled in Nelson, VA into a single level home Western Ranch home, with a wraparound porch, and a view of pastures, barn, pond, and woods on 26 acres. These two “½ backs” (Northerners who move to Florida and return ½ back to the North) live in Nelson, VA. His wife, Janice, is an active Master Gardener and Master Naturalist. She has matriculated at Virginia Tech as a Tree Stewart, while Jim volunteers in the Community Garden since 2013, as well as with our local AARP Occoneechee, Chapter #741 as President from 2017 to 2020. He now holds the Vice President position since 2020 to present 2023. He always says his greatest accomplishment for the organization was finding the current President and assisting her as Vice President. Jim is active in their Church, St James Catholic Church of Henderson, N.C. with Knights of Columbus officer duties. Jim says, “We are proud of the diversity in our AARP Chapter and in our Church.”
Treasurer
Dorothy Stocks
Biography
Ms. Dorothy Stocks was born and raised in Oxon Hill, Maryland. She is a retiree after 19 years of devoted service from the Prince Georges County School Board. Ms. Stocks moved to Clarksville, Virginia in 2013, and is presently serving as the Assistant Site Coordinator working for Lake Country Agency on Aging at the Clarksville Presbyterian Church since 2016. In addition, she also works at the Estes Center in Chase City, still with The Agency on the Aging on Wednesdays as their Assistant Site Coordinator. Ms. Stocks joined our local AARP Occoneechee Chapter 741 in 2019, and she became our devoted Treasurer in February of 2023. She has been blessed with 1 daughter, 3 granddaughters and 2 great grandsons, of which she is a very proud grandmother. She loves watching football, tennis, and golf. She is an avid crochet enthusiast, and she loves spending time in her plant garden with her beloved flowers.

Glenn Reyes
Biography
Glenn Reyes is a native of Brooklyn, New York and a long-time resident of Mecklenburg County, VA. He moved to Mecklenburg County in 1969 to help his grandmother and uncle on the family farm. In 1974, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force (USAF). In the USAF he graduated from one of the most prestigious and difficult USAF technical schools, the Air Traffic Control Operator Course. During his military career he received numerous awards and citations. In 1983, he separated from the Air Force with an honorable discharge. Glenn continued to serve his country as a civilian in the federal civil service. In 1983, joined the Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), as an Immigration Inspector. He held various law enforcement officer positions with the INS and eventually was promoted to supervisory special agent. Among the collateral assignments he held with the INS were field training officer, agency recruiter as the Black Affairs Program Manager, and public affairs officer. When the Department Homeland Security (DHS) was created in 2002, he transferred to the division that is now Homeland Security Investigations and continued his collateral duty as public affairs officer. In 2006, he retired as a supervisory special agent. Since retirement from DHS, he joined the U.S. Coast Auxiliary for five years. He is currently a member of American Legion Post 45. He is a member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association and of the National Police Defense Foundation. In February 2023, he was elected president of the NAACP Mecklenburg Branch. Glenn was ordained a deacon in 2017. He is the chaplain of AARP Occoneechee Chapter 741. He believes that the AARP does what he loves to do, helping those who are most vulnerable. He resides in Mecklenburg County, VA with his wife Irene. Their blended family consists of three children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Public Relations
Pam Barkalow
Biography
Miss Barkalow was employed for over 43 years at the Jersey Central Power & Light Company in the clerical field until she retired in 2015. She has been with her partner, Harry, for 27 years. Presently Miss Barkalow is on the Board of Directors for the Clarksville Regional Museum, serving not only as a volunteer, but she also holds the office of Secretary as of July 2020. From 2022, Miss Barklow is Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Mecklenburg County Public Library Foundation. Of her many, and various volunteering activities, also in 2020 she began coordinating the Clarksville Book Club which meets monthly at the Clarksville Burnett Library and Leaning Center. In addition to her already busy schedule, in 2020 she began her service as the Public Relations and Media Administrator on the Board of Directors for our local Clarksville AARP Occoneechee Chapter 741. Miss Barklow states that she enjoys nature while watching all the Hummingbirds and Deer that visit her yard every day. On her many travels she has visited a total of 40 of our 50 States. And she enjoys looking for the International Space Station when it passes overhead.

Annie Kersey
Biography
Mrs. Annie Kersey retired from Central Regional Hospital in Butner, North Carolina after 25 years of excellent experience in the Nursing Department. During those years, she was an accomplished Psychology and Geriatric Nurse, who enjoyed using those accomplishments to reach out to other nursing agencies to offer her knowledge and skills. To begin her career, she first graduated from South Boston Community Hospital In 1986 as a License Practical Nurse (LPN). During that time, she also taught CPR for eight years. Mrs. Kersey enjoys fishing, bowling, bingo and going on cruises. In addition, she is currently volunteering at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, Deaconess at North View Baptist Church, President of the Nursing Ministry, and Secretary on the Board of the local AARP Occoneechee Chapter 741 here in Clarksville, VA.
